Main Street Financial

Some 70 years ago - on February 16, 1939 - 12 employees of the Louisiana Highway Commission formed the Highway Federal Credit Union. Although it was a different name back then, that event marked the birth of Main Street Financial Federal Credit Union. As the State's transportation needs changed to meet the growing needs of its citizens, so did the Highway FCU to meet the changing needs of its members. In January 1977, the Credit Union changed its name to Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Federal Credit Union; and in May 1978, we became LA DOTD Federal Credit Union.

Over the last seven decades, your Credit Union has built a strong tradition of providing the best possible service and products to our members. From serving only Baton Rouge, North Baton Rouge, and University, Louisiana, we now serve a much larger area, including Lake Charles and Denham Springs. We've seen a lot of growth since the original 12 members established LA DOTD FCU. Today, we serve a diverse membership of almost 19,000 Louisianans - and we continue to add 100-plus new members each month.

Just as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has evolved and improved, building the infrastructure to connect the state of Louisiana, LA DOTD FCU has been building "financial highways" to improve members' quality of life. By connecting members with the resources you need, we're providing a roadmap to take you toward your financial dreams. And along every mile, we've built these highways with Louisiana values and member service top of mind.

With our proud heritage and mission in mind, as well as the changing needs of our growing membership, the Board of Directors decided it's time for a new, more inclusive name that represents our 21st century institution. I am pleased to introduce you to Main Street Financial Federal Credit Union - our new name beginning July 20, 2009. Even though our name will change, we will still be your Credit Union, providing you with the services and products to help you build wealth and realize your financial goals.
